Interested in Volunteering? Friendly Call Cork are currently recruiting volunteers

Friendly Call Cork is a free service providing a daily phone call to older people or individuals’ who may feel lonely, isolated and vulnerable in Cork City; the service specifically targets people with chronic illness or who cannot engage in an active way in the community.

Our principle aim is to tackle isolation and loneliness among older people, those with physical and mental disabilities and those who are socially isolated.

Friendly Call Cork provides friendship and security helping clients feel safer at home. If a client does not answer, the Friendly Caller will phone a member of their family, a neighbour or a friend. We currently ring over 380 clients per day, Monday – Friday. We have over 70 volunteer Friendly Callers. We also have a team of Tús and Community Employment participants who also ring clients on a daily basis. We are extremely grateful to all our volunteers and our Tús and Community Employment participants for all the time they give to our clients. It makes a huge positive difference to receive a daily phone call.
