Local Area Employment Service (LAES)
The Local Area Employment Service (LAES) is dedicated to supporting people who are unemployed in achieving their employment goals. We provide personalised guidance and practical supports tailored to individual needs, helping clients access suitable education, training, and employment opportunities.
Our service is primarily focused on supporting people who are long-term unemployed, including those who have been out of work for more than 12 months.
How We Can Support You
Our experienced team offers a range of one-to-one supports, including:
- Career planning and guidance
- Job search assistance
- Support with completing job applications
- Professional CV development and enhancement
- Referrals to the TÚS Community Work Placement Scheme and Community Employment (CE) Programme
- Referrals to relevant education and training programmes
- Assistance in developing digital and technical skills needed for the modern job market
- Access to IT facilities for job searching and online applications
Local, Accessible Support
LAES services are delivered through community-based locations throughout Cork city and county, ensuring that support is accessible and available close to where people live. In addition to employment supports, we can help connect clients with a range of local services, resources, and community supports that may assist them on their journey towards employment.
Accessing the Service
If you would like to access LAES supports, you can request a referral through your local Department of Social Protection office.
